Spring Summer 2013: Prada Floral Orientale

The Devil Wears Prada editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, came to mind when Prada’s first model walked the runway. Floral. For spring. Yes, innovative. I think it’s safe to assume that many instantly think of a spring bouquet when it comes to spring prints. Miuccia changed that tonight at her SS 2013 show. Blacks dominated the runway and there were no bright prints reminiscent of an English garden or spring bouquet.

Instead, he drew inspiration from the Orient as the models walked around in what appeared to be updated versions of the Japanese kimono. Even the models’ footwear was something of an amalgamation of ideas, from Japanese wooden slippers to Japanese socks.

And the bags? Less rigid and formal this season. There are the basic mini bags, and then there are flower bags like these below:

A more complete update for tomorrow. I need to sleep. Long day ahead! 🙂
